Description / Operation
The Model 202 Swing Check Valve is made in 4" pipe size. The brass valve body has a boss above the clapper which may be tapped for the addition of a ½" NPT drain. The Valve comes with a ½" NPT tapped boss below the clapper. A rubber faced, stainless steel clapper provides positive closing against an integral seat ring.

Design Feature:
In a full open position the 78FP UL/FM rubber faced swing clapper is held tightly against the valve body, out of the flow stream, to provide maximum flow area and prevention of clapper flutter. The clapper design produces quick, non-slam closure before flow reversal can occur, which provides a leak free sealing of back pressures as low as 1 PSI (0.07 bar) equivalent to 28" water head, meeting FM requirements for an anti-water- hammer check valves.

The 2½” to 8” Grooved End Riser Check Valves are designed and intended for use in a wet-type automatic sprinkler system. It reduces the possibility of false alarms by trapping a portion of transient surges in supply pressure within the system, thus, reducing the possibility of subsequent surges actuating the Flow detector and its associated alarms.
The main riser must be equipped with a Flow switch for activating a local electric alarm bell. The valve may be installed in either a vertically or horizontal. It has grooved connections suitable for grooved end pipe couplings listed or approved for fire protection systems.
